Acupuncture Works! ( a physical therapist's perspective)

The secret is out! Well actually, the ancient treatment of acupuncture has had a long history in Asia, but now people all around the world are warming up to the idea of getting "stuck" by needles to improve their health.

Without getting into a long explanation on theories of how it works, I want to first give my experience. I am a physical therapist and an acupuncturist. The bulk of my physical therapy practice has been in the area of orthopedics, treating muscular and joint related injuries. Physical therapy is a wonderful tool for educating my patients about posture and ergonomic considerations. I am very enthusiastic to teach about exercises and stretches that will restore strength and range of motion as well as improve the overall functioning of the body. Empowering people with these simple daily remedies is a great preventative medicine. However, when someone is seeking intervention, as is often the case for pain, I recommend a combination of acupuncture and physical therapy. As a long time runner, my injuries have led me to try many different therapies and I feel that acupuncture gives me the most complete treatment. The whole body can be treated with great results in fewer treatment sessions.
Call me to find out how acupuncture and physical therapy can change your life!
